Welcome to 22q Stories!
This site is home to a book project about individuals with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome—a genetic disorder also known as DiGeorge syndrome (DGS) and Velocardiofacial syndrome (VCFS). Almost as common as Down syndrome, 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (called 22q for short) is the world’s second-most-common genetic disorder. Although every affected individual is missing part of their 22nd chromosome, the effects are highly variable, ranging from mild to severe. Through a fascinating collection of stories, author Paul Greenland will provide a window into the lives of families impacted by 22q and speak with some of the leading doctors and scientists who are searching for the latest breakthroughs. If you or someone you care about has 22q, please explore this site to learn more about the 22q Stories project and how you can share your story.
